Abstract:

Indoor air pollution and the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 have emerged as critical concerns with detrimental impacts on human health. This seminar addresses the pressing need for effective air filtration systems that can combat microorganism transmission and reduce air pollutants in indoor environments. To tackle this challenge, we have developed innovative air remediation filters utilizing a copper metal-organic framework (Cu-MOF), which offers superior performance when compared to traditional activated carbon filters. Our fabricated Cu-CPP/Al2O3 beads-based filter demonstrates excellent adsorption capabilities for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), CO2, and particulate matter (PM2.5), while also exhibiting antimicrobial properties. Furthermore, we have designed a cutting-edge 4-in-1 multifunctional air filter, known as the Cu-CPP/NWF air filter, composed of non-woven fibers. This remarkable filter can effectively adsorb VOCs, capture PM2.5, and eliminate microorganisms in a single filtration process. Additionally, we have engineered a self-cleaning air filter membrane adorned with a photocatalytic CuBTC/PS/TiO2 membrane, ensuring long-lasting and efficient performance. These revolutionary advancements in air filtration technology have the potential to substantially reduce indoor air pollution and protect human health. By presenting these novel solutions, we aim to inspire further research and development in the field of air remediation filters, leading to healthier and safer indoor environments for all.
